65 years on from selling a pig to buy a bike from Hawkins Motors, Mr Hicks buys his fifteenth vehicle from our St Stephen dealership!

As you all know it’s our 80th year serving the Cornish motorist, and we’re living up to our motto “such nice people to deal with”! It has been paramount to our long-standing and trusted position in the Cornish community for so many years.

One of our returning customers is Mr Ron Hicks of Grampound, has definitely proved he likes to deal with Hawkins! Mr Hicks recently collected the keys to his Peugeot 207 SW from salesman Clive Grose, with whom he has dealt with for 23 years! (pictured above!)

In 1948, at the age of 16, Ron sold a pig for £10 to buy a pushbike from Hawkins Motors founder, Billy Hawkins. Back in 1953, he came out of the army and purchased a 250 AJS Motorbike for £112 (in the picture below) also from Billy! Now, at 80 years old, Ron has just purchased his fifteenth vehicle from Hawkins Motors St Stephen.
 

We all feel very lucky and privileged to have such wonderful customers who return time and again. Not only is it a great testament to the fantastic vehicles on offer, but to our team who are all so dedicated and a credit to Hawkins Motors!

We may have state-of-the-art showrooms and be at the forefront of motoring in Cornwall, but believe it or not, this year we’re celebrating our 80th birthday! To mark our eighth decade, we’ve been celebrating in style and there’s a whole lot more coming up in 2013!

It all began in 1933 when William Henry (Billy) Hawkins founded his first business in the clay village of St Stephen. By 1940, we were stocking tractors, cars, motorcycles and cycles. By 1946, Hawkins Motors were appointed agent for British motorcycles Ariel, BSA, Norton, Vincent, Scott and ETS and it was in 1972, when we became an appointed Peugeot dealership! You know what they say, the rest is history!


Today, we have seven Hawkins Motors dealerships stocking an impressive portfolio including Citroën, Hyundai, Kia, Isuzu, Great Wall and Mitsubishi, as well as hundreds of used cars.


With so much to celebrate, we’ve been busy with promotions, giveaways and events. Our first Electric Car Rally in March really kicked off our year-long party; look out for more big events in the pipeline!


Our Sports Kit Competition is up and running, offering sports kits worth £500 each for two lucky local Cornish teams...have you supported your sport and voted yet!?
